Financial freedom and personal security don’t occur randomly. To live in freedom and security requires a plan and a way to measure small achievable steps along the way. One of the most important characteristics of a financial plan is to be sure it’s being updated based on current circumstances and future goals.

Life is never certain. In fact, the only thing that is certain is change. Therefore, a financial plan must be flexible. Too often, plans are put in place and at the first setback they are thrown out the window and the goals are forgotten. Comfortability in the short-term becomes more important than freedom and personal security – even though we still desire it.

So, why is that?

Fear can stir up emotions which can then drive our decisions in the wrong direction. And it takes work to stay on track, which can feel uncomfortable. Hard work is almost always required to reach goals, and financial goals are no exception. Following a financial plan can be intimidating, but the best way to overcome those feelings is to continue to become familiar with the process.

  1. Define your short and long-term goals.
  2. Implement the right plans for your life and adjust them as needed.
  3. Be willing to adapt and overcome uncertainty.
  4. Seek the guidance needed to help you build and manage your personalized plans.

Life moves quickly and it can be easy to put off the decisions we should be making to create security for today and for tomorrow. When we’re young, we don’t want to think about retirement. When we’re older, we don’t want to be deprived of living the lifestyle we desire. But if we don’t make the time to put plans in place, days will turn into weeks, weeks will turn into months and before we know it, we could end up years behind where we’d like to be.

Ultimately, freedom comes from security.

  • The security in knowing we have goals we are working towards with the right plans in place to achieve those goals.
  • The security in knowing we can experience spending freedom today, while also saving for our future, because we have the right plans in place to allow for this.
  • The security in knowing we are prepared for life’s unexpected challenges.
  • Security makes us feel safe.

Finding freedom and security is a decision. When we define our goals and put the right plans in place, we naturally begin to experience more freedom as our decisions and lifestyle can begin to shift and guilt-free spending also becomes possible.

Spending freedom isn’t about income level or being able to spend as much as we want, it’s about having a plan and being able to spend in the areas that matter to us the most. LIVING WELLthy™ is when we live in a state of personal and financial security, and it all starts with living in alignment with our core values so we can find the freedom and security we desire.
